No Recourse to Public Funds Support Volunteer

Team:
Client Development
Commitment:
We are seeking someone who can offer one day or two half days per week.

Team Information

Our Destitution Co-ordinator provides focused support to our No Recourse to Public Funds clients. We also aim to make links with other NRPF services in London to provide the highest quality service to our clients with specific cultural needs.

Clients with no recourse to public funds (NRPF) are at high risk of homelessness and destitution because they cannot access mainstream housing, welfare benefits and employment. Services can find it difficult to engage with NRPF clients due to the limited support options available. Having no recourse to public funds is not necessarily a problem – NRPF migrants can be studying, working or living in the UK providing they meet the required immigration controls and can support themselves. For voluntary sector services, it is those clients who have never been or are no longer self-sufficient, or whose immigration status has changed or was never regularised 5
, who are likely to present as NRPF with no means of support. This can often be after a long period of destitution or after employment arrangements or support networks have broken down
