Home For Good Social Club
The Passage is currently developing an exciting new project called Home for Good, which will provide extra support for clients who have been resettled across London. The project will help people to access community activities, employment and training opportunities and, by providing social support to develop their confidence and independence, decrease the risk of future homelessness.
Home for Good has also set up a weekend Social Club – a relaxed and welcoming place where Home for Good’s clients can come to have fun and make new friends. The club’s coordinator, Conor, has now run two very successful sessions. He says:
“At our last session, we had eleven clients participating. We had fruit, pastries, tea and coffee ready to greet the clients as they came in the club, and tables where they could read newspapers, play chess or Jenga. Most just sat and chatted to each other. The general atmosphere was calm and friendly – a real Sunday morning vibe. My aim for the club is to create a cordial atmosphere where our members feel safe and get to know us and each other.”
The rest of the project is fast progressing. If you’d like to be involved, take a look at our Volunteering page to find out more about the exciting roles that will help support people in their new homes and communities.
The Social Club is also looking for a new venue – if you have a large room, preferably with a kitchen, that you’d like to lend us at the weekend, we’d love to hear from you: [email protected]
