Lloyds Community Fund 2014

voteVote for The Passage!

We are really excited to be shortlisted for the Lloyds Bank Community Fund. Communities are so important in connecting people and providing a sense of belonging, and we are fundraising through the Community Fund for our Home for Good project that works with formerly homeless people to link them to local communities and forge social relationships that will help prevent them from returning to the streets.  The more votes we have, the higher our chance of winning £3000 to support this project, so please vote and share this link with your family and friends:

The money we raise will go towards vital travel and associated costs to run Home for Good. To inspire your votes, here are some of the things that the project has been doing recently:

  • Volunteers are meeting regularly one-on-one with clients in their local areas to support them in putting down roots in their communities, linking them in with services and nurturing their interests
  • Our weekend social club has supported one client to find his mother’s grave in Caerphilly and will be holding a tree planting memorial in London to help him with the grieving process so he can move on with his life
  • In August the social club was invited to the nation’s seat of power. They were given a tour of the Houses of Parliament at the Palace of Westminster, walked down the lobbies, sat in on live debates witnessing our power brokers effecting change, and soaked up the living history of an iconic building that has stood for centuries. This was a world away for those sleeping rough in its shadow, and the group really got a sense of barriers being broken as they were given access to a part of London that often they feel is closed off to them.
  • Members of the Home for Good project are now volunteering themselves with other isolated and/or homeless people, providing warm indoor meals with dignity and friendship
  • Upcoming plans include a trip to Open House London, a pampering spa session kindly provided at a discount by York Hall Spa, and attending ‘Mayor’s Questions’ at City Hall, where members will be able to have a Q&A session with Mayor Boris Johnson.

Thank you for your votes – they are much appreciated by all who rely on our services.
