The Passage is establishing a Quality and Services Committee which will report to our Trustee Board to provide a strategic view on the use of impact data to inform our services, research and influencing functions. The Committee will also champion the incorporation of voices of lived experience in our governance and impact analysis
Location: Westminster, London
Remuneration: This is an unpaid voluntary role, however reasonable expenses may be reimbursed
Time Commitment: Four board meetings per year (with each meeting lasting around two and a half hours). Plus, attendance of occasional events and meetings with key stakeholders

About the role
Are you passionate about ending homelessness?
We are seeking dedicated committee members who are passionate about using evidence to drive change. While lived experience of homelessness is not required for these roles, we highly value diverse perspectives. Candidates must demonstrate a strong commitment to The Passage’s mission and values and recognize the crucial role that individuals with lived experience play in our governance.
A member of our Lived Experience Assembly will be a full member of this committee.
Scope:
The Committee will provide assurance to The Passage’s Board of Trustees that:
- Our services, research and influencing functions are informed by impact evidence that incorporates the voices of lived experience;
- People with lived experience are part of The Passage’s governance structure;
- Our services are regularly monitored, reviewed and developed to address current and upcoming policy and funding environments;
- Robust quality assurance is mainstreamed across the organisation.
The Committee will:
- Regularly review and ensure that our impact data is robust, includes the voices of people with lived experience and accurately reflects people’s journeys through our services.
- Review our service delivery and development to ensure that it is informed by our impact data.
- Oversee the analyse of demographic data to ensure that our services are reaching and addressing the needs of the diverse groups of people who need our services and that resources are being appropriately distributed.
- Provide regular opportunities for people with lived experience (via our Lived Experience Assembly) to be represented within The Passage’s governance structure and to contribute to the Committee’s work.
- Advise on organisational responses to local and central government policy and funding announcements that impact on the people who use our services.
- Advise on how to use our impact data to influence national and local conversations around homelessness.
- Support and advise The Passage’s Director of Housing and Services to quality assure the delivery and development of services, both existing and planned.
- Oversee the development and review of our operational policies and procedures.
- Ensuring that the Services Directorate delivers to annual and strategic plan objectives and recommends the annual budget and business plan to Board.
- Overview Safeguarding and Incidents (jointly with our Risk & Audit Committee) Scope.
Committee members are initially appointed for 3 years and can be reappointed for two further periods of 3 years; up to 9 years.
Desired skills and experience:
- Experience of using data and evidence to develop and implement services.
- Knowledge of the policy environment in which homelessness services are delivered and developed.
- Understanding of local and regional government commissioning and grant provision.
- Knowledge of annual business planning in a service delivery environment.
- Experience of working in partnership with people with lived experience to develop services and contribute toward organisational governance.
- Understanding of the importance of The Passage’s values to the organisation and our service delivery.
