After moving to London to take up a construction job, Paul* ended up becoming a victim of modern slavery, being held against his will and assaulted and abused.
Paul finally managed to escape, and ended up on the streets; a terrifying experience, especially after the trauma of modern slavery.
This led to several suicide attempts, but thankfully Paul found The Passage.
The first thing The Passage staff did was arrange a Multi-Agency Case Conference for Paul, bringing together the relevant agencies, to form an action plan for Paul. The Passage helped Paul into the safety and security of one of our accommodation projects, and (over a period of time) Paul was provided with support and linked into counselling for the emotional trauma he had suffered.
The Passage had also liaised with government, who recognised that Paul was indeed a survivor of modern slavery and entitled to further support.

as a survivor of human trafficking, is in a privately rented flat, and is getting the psychological help he needs.”
