In the last street count*, more than 4,000 people were sleeping rough on the streets of London. Many more are hidden from view, living in temporary accommodation or unsafe situations.
Homelessness is rising fast. The need for action has never been greater.
At The Passage, we work tirelessly to help people find safe, stable homes and rebuild their lives with dignity. Working at the forefront of the homelessness crisis in Westminster, we supported over 3,000 people experiencing or at risk of homelessness last year**.
Jamie’s story
When Jamie first moved into Montfort House, he was very fragile – he was still suffering from alcoholism, and at times it was difficult to work with him. But, because we work in a person-centered way, we found a way to work at Jamie’s pace.
Over time he developed trust and respect, building the bridge we needed to open up communication.
“My doctor referred me to The Passage and they helped me so much. I enrolled into college for adult literacy classes . I found work as a gardener in Battersea – this was great for my mental health, and I feel very happy” – Jamie, Former Montfort House Resident
A number of our specially trained team members at Montfort House have their own lived experience of homelessness and that is invaluable when working with those currently facing a housing and mental health crisis.
