Fitness Class Volunteer

Here at The Passage, we support anyone who is experiencing or at risk of homelessness. Anyone aged 18 or over can rely on our support. We offer a person centered, holistic way of working and this extends to providing leisure & wellbeing activities for our service users.  

Location: The Passage Resource Centre, St Vincent’s Centre, Carlisle Place, SW1P 1NL

Commitment: Mondays or Fridays 1.30 – 3.00pm

Please note:

  • Applicants must be 18 years old or over
  • We will ask for personal references

About this volunteer role

We are fortunate to have a qualified Personal Trainer who runs twice weekly fitness sessions from 2.00 – 3.00pm on Mondays and Fridays, and we are seeking someone to support the group. The sessions are open to everyone and there are a modification of exercises for all levels of fitness.  

If you are interested in fitness and have a knack for drawing people in and creating a vibe, we’d love to hear from you.  

We are committed to creating a safe, non-judgmental space for everyone here at The Passage, regardless of who they are. There is an expectation that volunteers understand this and behave accordingly towards people using our services, other volunteers, visitors and members of staff. 

Main duties

  • Promoting the sessions verbally in our dining room in the half hour before the session starts 
  • Setting up/rolling up mats  
  • Taking part in the class and creating an inclusive, non-judgmental and relaxed space 
  • Getting verbal feedback from participants after the session and feeding back to Group Facilitator

Volunteers are essential to The Passage and our success. Our team of volunteers add tremendous value to our services from serving food and driving to providing complementary therapies and facilitating English conversation classes.
