About this volunteer role
To support the delivery of the Irish Weekly Group, helping to create a warm, welcoming, and engaging environment for clients at the Resource Centre who have a connection to Irish culture, heritage, and community. The volunteer will support group activities, encourage participation, and help clients feel included, connected, and valued, contributing to a positive and enjoyable experience for everyone attending.
Main duties
Key Responsibilities
- Welcome and support group members attending weekly sessions.
- Help facilitate activities that celebrate Irish culture, traditions, music, history, and heritage.
- Encourage social interaction and meaningful conversations among clients.
- Assist with setting up and tidying away resources and refreshments.
- Support clients to engage in cultural discussions, storytelling, music, arts, or themed activities.
- Promote an inclusive and respectful atmosphere where everyone feels valued and connected.
- Work alongside the Irish Resettlement Worker to help the group run smoothly.

- An interest in and appreciation of Irish culture and heritage.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Friendly, approachable, and reliable.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Respectful of people from diverse backgrounds and experiences.
Desired qualities
- Personal experience or strong connection to Irish culture, heritage, or community life.
- Interest in Irish music, history, language, literature, sport, or traditions.
