About this volunteer role
As a Sports & Activities Volunteer, you will support clients to access and participate in sports, fitness, wellbeing, and social activities. You will help build confidence, encourage engagement, and promote healthier, more active lifestyles within a supportive and inclusive environment.
Main duties
Key Responsibilities
- Encourage and motivate clients to participate in sports, fitness, and wellbeing activities.
- Help recruit participants for activities, events, and community programmes.
- Accompany and support clients attending sports sessions, gym activities, walks, and recreational events.
- Assist with the organisation, preparation, and set-up of activities and equipment.
- Create a welcoming, positive, and inclusive atmosphere for all participants.
- Provide reassurance and support to individuals attending activities for the first time or who may feel nervous.
- Promote upcoming activities and encourage consistent attendance and engagement.
- Work alongside staff to identify opportunities for new sports, fitness, and wellbeing initiatives.
- Maintain attendance records and provide feedback to staff when required.

We are looking for volunteers who are:
- Friendly, approachable, and dependable.
- Strong communicators with good interpersonal skills.
- Enthusiastic about sport, fitness, wellbeing, or community engagement.
- Able to motivate and encourage others.
- Respectful and inclusive of people from diverse backgrounds and experiences.
- Comfortable working as part of a team and following guidance from staff.
